US Postal Service Receives Aberdeen Achievement Award for Technology Innovation for Use of CombineNet's Advanced Sourcing Technology
CombineNet congratulates long-standing customer USPS for its recognition as a Global Supply Management innovator at Aberdeen's CPO Summit
PITTSBURGH, PA—November 20, 2007
CombineNet, the leading provider of advanced sourcing and optimization technologies, announced today that the United States Postal Service, a CombineNet customer for nearly 5 years, was presented with a Global Supply Management Award at the Aberdeen CPO Summit. The US Postal Service received the Achievement Award for Technology Innovation, recognizing its innovative use of CombineNet’s advanced sourcing technology to reduce costs and increase efficiencies across its entire supply chain.
We are extremely happy for the entire supply management team at Postal Service," said Tony Bonidy, president and CEO of CombineNet. "Aberdeen's recognition of their innovative use of technology to support their aggressive supply management strategies is an honorable achievement, and we are proud to be a part of their efforts."
We are pleased to be recognized by the Aberdeen Group for our use of CombineNet's advanced sourcing technology to achieve our supply management goals," said Robert Oates, Senior Manager of SCM Solutions, US Postal Service.
Enterprises that employ advanced sourcing strategies are building stronger supplier relationships by making better, more-informed decisions and on average, are saving more money than their peers," notes Andrew Bartolini, Vice President of Global Supply Management Research at Aberdeen Group. "Aberdeen is pleased to award our 'Innovation in Technology' Award to the United States Postal Service for the visible, positive impact of technology on its performance."
Aberdeen cited the Postal Service's use of CombineNet's advanced sourcing technologies, which through Expressive Bidding® and optimized scenario analysis enabled suppliers to define: a) specific bid bundles, which created new volume discounts, b) production schedule changes, c) flexible delivery times, d) supply locations, and e) payment terms. Using the example of a sourcing event for pallets, an incremental savings of 9% was achieved by allowing the suppliers to define the market. An additional benefit was a key location no longer being supported by a single source.
Aberdeen's CPO Summit was held November 13-14, 2007, in Boston, MA.
